Mahogani Summer Concerts Chapter 6: Corelli, Mozart & Haydn zantehelp - August 9, 2023 Spread the love for Zante Details Date: August 9 Time: 08:15 pm - 11:15 pm Event Category: zante-events Website: Event Website Organizer Mahogani Email: [email protected] Website: Organizer's Website Venue Mahogani Mahogani On Wednesday the 9th of August, at 20:15, the Mahogani team welcomes you to the sixth concert of our summer series 2023.The main focus of the program will be the ‘Classical Period’ of music history, the time roughly between 1750 and 1800. Did you know that the term ‘classical music’ is derived from the music of this time? Before we dive into it though, the program will start with the beautiful sonata in e minor for violin and continuo by Arcangelo Corelli (1653-1713). It consists of an affectfull Preludio, a dynamic Allemande, followed by an expressive Sarabande, to be concluded with an active dance, called the Giga. Next you will hear the dramatic first movement of the Sonata for piano in c minor K.457 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791). In this piece, a struggle between contrasting elements can be heard through the music. Finally, the violin concerto in G major by Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) – or ‘Papa Haydn’ as he was called sometimes – showcases the virtuosic possibilities of the instrument in a smooth and happy character. A true spectacle! The violin will be played by Dionysia Kazantzidi and on the piano, which will serve as the orchestra in the last piece, you will find Duco Burgers. Join us for this ode to these three great composers! https://www.facebook.com/events/969994114240338/ Spread the love for Zante
